Your files never leave your Mac

Tangerine converts your file exactly where it sits. No upload, no account, and no server anyone has to take on trust.

Read from the folder it already sits in, and written back beside it.

Someone else's server

Never contacted. Nothing is stored, so nothing needs deleting.

Nothing is uploaded

Your file is read from the folder it already sits in, and written straight back beside it.

No account, ever

There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to sign in to. The app never asks who you are.

Works with the Wi-Fi off

The strongest proof is one you can run yourself: disconnect, convert a file, and nothing changes.

Questions

Before you ask

Do my files get uploaded anywhere?

No. Tangerine has no server, no account, and works with the network off.

Does it replace my original file?

Never. Results are written beside the source with a new extension, so the original stays exactly where it was.

Can I change the shortcut?

Yes. ⌘ opens the conversion wheel and ⌥⌘ opens the tools wheel out of the box, and both are configurable in Settings.

Does it work with more than one file at a time?

Select several files of the same kind and the wheel applies your choice to all of them. Mixed selections show a notice instead, because there is no shared set of operations.

Where does the converted file go?

Beside the original, in the same folder, named after it with the new extension. Nothing is moved and nothing is overwritten.

Is it available only for macOS?

Yes. Tangerine is built for the Mac. There is no Windows or Linux version.
